What Is An ROV?

What is an ROV?
An ROV is a Remotely Operated (underwater) Vehicle, typically small and controlled above water by the team that built it. The ROV is controlled by a series of cables or sometimes via wifi, bluetooth, or otherwise wireless connection.

Parts of an ROV:

  • Camera
  • Tether
  • Motor
  • Thruster
  • Wiring
  • Main Structure
How they move:
Depending on the ROV they have three motors, one vertical and two horizontal.

Sensors they possess:
High definition fishing camera to capture video with which we can identify distance, type of fish, and relative space.
Our ROV will also have a grabber/hook in order to collect samples to be processed.
Communication abilities:
Control box connected to ROV through tether. Feedback from ROV from aforementioned sensors.

  1. Check out the grading criteria....

    Grading Criteria:
Paragraph form (1-2 paragraphs per section)
    In you own words
IMAGES (make sure you give them credit)
Hyperlinks of sources at the end of page
Is the page cohesive as a whole?
    Does it all flow together?
Does it look like each person just did their part and didn't collaborate?
